SAUDI ARABIA · RESEARCH ESTIMATOR
Climate-aware battery electric vehicle simulator

Know your range.
Every month. Every city.

Explore how Saudi Arabia's monthly temperature and humidity could affect the driving range of the same battery electric vehicle. Choose an EPA-listed 2023–2026 BEV, a Saudi city, and city/highway driving. Historical weather is downloaded from Open-Meteo; EV ratings are retrieved from the US EPA where available.

Method & assumptions

The EPA certified combined range is the reference point, not a measured Saudi result. We divide user-entered usable battery kWh by EPA range to derive a nominal battery-side kWh/km proxy. City driving uses a 0.91 traction-energy multiplier, while highway driving uses 1.18. These factors are configurable research assumptions, not official EPA city/highway conversion factors. Climate-related HVAC/battery cooling or heating is calculated as a simplified kW load, converted to kWh/km using driving speed. Humidity affects the estimated cooling load only when cooling is needed. Daily-high mode estimates a hotter drive and does not represent the entire month's average. No exact battery health, wind, terrain, air density, rain, traffic, solar irradiance or particular OEM thermal control logic is modeled.

Speed sensitivity is a first-order aerodynamic proxy, not a vehicle-specific drag model; traffic and wind are excluded.

Show the climate-to-range equation

E₀ = battery_kWh / EPA_range_km; eₜᵣₐ꜀ₜᵢₒₙ = E₀ × driving-mode multiplier. Cooling power (kW) = max(0, 0.18 + 0.115 × (ambient °C − cabin °C) + 0.012 × max(0, RH % − 40)) for ambient above cabin + 2°C; heating power = 0.22 + 0.085 × (17°C − ambient °C) for ambient below 17°C; additional battery thermal management = max(0, ambient − 35°C) × 0.035 kW (or max(0, 10 − ambient) × 0.045 kW in cold conditions). Auxiliary values and thresholds are assumed, illustrative calibration parameters. Range = usable SOC × battery kWh / [eₜᵣₐ꜀ₜᵢₒₙ + (auxiliary kW / average speed)]. A nominal 0.2 kW common auxiliary contribution is included. Calibration against measured Saudi driving telemetry is required before operational use.
